Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone systems can provide travel directions by phone. At least two vendors offer phone-base trip planning using voice recognition. Pricing for these products depends on features selected, agency and region size, and call volume. Ontira Communcations, Inc. offers BusLine. LogicTree offers TransitSpeak and TravelSpeak. The systems with voice recognition can be very expensive, and have been noted to provide a frustrating user experience [1].
